On a perfect pitch the Sheers took the lead on 11 minutes from a cross delivered by George Sellick that Elliot York headed goal wards that was blocked that Harvey Valter managed to get a toe to the ball to score at the near post. Sheers continued to press forward with a number of runs down the left side by George Sellick that was causing the Balham defence to defend the crosses. Sheers on 24 minutes should have increased the lead from Elliot York’s perfect cross into Harvey Valter who came into the centre of the box to meet York’s cross but misses the ball completely. Despite the Sheers commanding the first 30 minutes the Sheers lost their composure to allow a good ball by Balham that was sent directly into the Sheers box that Jamal Bartley took the chance to equalise for Balham. On 34 minutes York & Horn combined to set up Theo White who blasts his shot over the Balham bar. Theo White on 42 minutes had further chances to get on the score sheet with a slide rule shot that lacked power that the Balham keeper blocked but the ball came back for Theo White who then had a better chance to score but blazes the ball over the Balham bar. On 44 minutes Theo White was in thick of another attack into the box only to be fouled on his way into the area who was pulled back for only a foul outside the box despite a further foul inside the box. Due to the foul being classed as a goal scoring opportunity Balham’s centre half was sent off by referee Jamaal Horne. The Sheers free kick came to nothing and the Sheers went in at half time not doing enough to score further goals. In second half Balham 10 men decided to put all their players in their half and defend what came to them in which they managed to do by closing all of the Sheers play so there were few chances created by the visitors. The best chances fell to Kareem Foster on 65 minutes with a header that went over the Balham bar, on 74 minutes after a long throw from the Sheers into the box, Jake Horn’s header was blocked that then fell to Kareem Foster who shot on target that was also blocked on the line. George Walker on as a substitute had a couple of runs at the defence with the ball that had Balham having to pull back George Walker with the threatening move. Callum Mackie for the Sheers volleyed on target that the Balham keeper saved on 93 minutes. The Sheers had to settle for another draw despite the encouraging production of chances that should have given them the 3 points.
