Guildford City arrived at Sheerwater in bottom place in the league and needing the 3 points to continue their fight to escape relegation and they did not disappoint with a battle ling performance to claim only a point in a thoroughly good match that did not disappoint the supporters.

The Sweeny took the game to Sheerwater in the early exchanges with Agbontaem battling with Sheers Jennison-Leppa to win a corner. From the corner the ball came out to Callum Hope who fired over the Sheers target. On 18 minutes Sweeney’s Joel Opponges bends his shot to the top corner that the Sheers keeper Henry Grad palms over the bar. There is a growing concern for the Sheers keeper who was injured in a 50-50 challenge and is now limping around his area. On 22 minutes after a Sheers corner Razza Ajibola toe pokes a shot that trickles goal wards that gets cleared off the Sweeney’s goal line. On 29 minutes Sheers Callum Mackie does well to nullify the progress of Sweeny’s Agbontaem. On 30 minutes Sheers Aidan Larkin in a good position shoots tamely at the Sweeney’s keeper Hyde. Sweeney’s Joel Oppong gets through on goal with Gadd to beat that the Sheers Keeper blocks, the ball that goes out wide to Kai Zini and with Gadd now out of position Zini curls an excellent shot into the far top corner of the Sheers net on 36 minutes. Sheers win a corner with Aidan Larkin’s corner sending the ball into the heart of the Sweeney’s goal that Joe Aiken heads off the line. On 40 minutes Sweeney’s Bertie Saunders heads away York’s long penetrating ball destined for Harvey Valter in a good position. Sweeney’s Charlie Bland hits the Sheers crossbar after a cross from Agbontaen. Sheers should have equalised in the closing minutes with George Mackie laying the ball back into the onrushing York who scuffs his shot. Half time 0-1

Sheers equalise with York’s through ball that cannons off a defender that Aidan Larkin picks up to drive forward to hit his shot quick and precise into the near post corner that beats keeper Hade. Great build up from the Sweeney on 61 minutes with flicks & tricks only for the final ball that goes across the Sheers goal is claimed by Sheers Callum Mackie. On 68 minutes Harvey Valter scores a great long range effort that is ruled out for offside on the build up. On 73 minutes a spectacular overhead kick from Selloum goes straight towards the Sheers keeper Grad. On 83 minutes from a resulting corner that the Sweeney found hard to clear, On 83 minutes Sheers Kareem Foster had a great chance to score but he lost his balance and the chance was gone. A minute later a massive scream from the Sweeney & their bench for a challenge in the box involving Sheers Sam Whitehead & Sweeney’s Aboullah Selloum that was waived away from Referee Matthew Topp. On 86 minutes George Sellick finally got the better of Sweeney’s O’Neil to cross into the box that Aidan Larkin’s forceful header was brilliantly saved by Sweeney’s Hyde. In stoppage time the Sweeney then almost took all the points needed with Abdullah Selloum header that was saved by the injured Henry Gadd.
