

On a very wet & windy night at the Imperial Fields the Sheers braved the weather to take the 3 points with a good performance to win the match 2-1 that was on the verge of being abandoned by referee Ryan Hethrington with the pitch becoming waterlogged.
A nervy start for the Sheers having to defend the surge from the Terrors in the earlier minutes however the Sheers start to settle and get a great chance after a corner that Jake Horn smashes goal wards that hits the crossbar & stanchion. This follows with Aidan Larkin dragging his shot wide of the Terrors target. Ethan Leeks is denied his first goal for the first team when he heads home but his effort is ruled out by the referee for a foul on a defender. Sheers Mekhail McLaughlin clears a certainty stopping the Terrors forward from scoring on 14 minutes.. Sheers take the lead on 16 minutes from a looping ball down the middle that Aidan Larkin puts away despite the strong challenges from the Terror’s defender. Sheers double their lead on 24 minutes with Elliot York sending Ethan Leeks down the right completing his run of half the pitch to deliver a firm cross into the Terror’s box that is put into the net from the home defender. George Mackie clears the danger from the Terror’s attack on 27 minutes. On 33 minutes Sheers Aidan Larkin jinks his way forward then pulls the ball back that Ethan Leek’s shoots just wide of the target. Half Time 0-2
Both sides start the second half in torrential rain. On 47 minutes from a Terror’s corner No 3 misses his headed chance at the far post. On 61 minutes Drew Churchwell saves from the terror’s no6. Sheers win a corner from Whitby that Callum Mackie whips into the box that Aidan Larkin’s shot is deflected for a corner. Sheers Blampied hits the side netting from the corner. The home side keeper makes a save from Elliot York and the Sheers get a turn around with Whitby driving forward with a shot that the Terror’s keeper saves. On 75 minutes Sheers Aidan Larkin chips the ball forward to Elliot York in a good position but the Sheers forward loses his footing and the good chance is lost. On 81 minutes from a Sheers looping ball forward that the Terror’s keeper comes out of his area to clear but missus the ball that the Sheers man Ethan Leeks is blocked by the keeper from attempting to get onto the ball. Sheers expect the referee to give the Sheers a foul but play continues with the Sheers mystified on the decision. On 82 minutes no16 gets through the Sheers back line for a one on one with the Sheers keeper Churchwell who sticks out a leg to save the shot from entering the Sheers net. On 86 minutes the Sheers no5 Blampied makes a great tackle to snuff out the Terror’s player in a good position to score. In added on time the Terror’s are awarded a free kick given away by Mekhail McLaughlin. The free kick is sent in perfectly for the forward to head home to make the score line 1-2. Sheers hold out to take a great win away from the third in the league Tooting & Mitcham.
