The Sheers arrived at Horley Town on good away form that was dented by the home side’s first half performance for them to lead 2-0 that the Sheers battled back in the second half only to score just the one goal.
A terrible start for the Sheers to go 1-0 down in the very first minute after Tom Gardner back from University failed to control the ball and the ball was dinked through for Lewis Pearch to score. On 4 minutes the Sheers react with Elliot York’s cross that is whipped into the box that Kareem Foster just fails to get a connection. On 30 minutes Sheers are denied an equaliser by Elliot York who is adjudged to be offside. Horley’s Will Kendall’s shot just goes past the Sheers upright on 31 minutes. On 36 minutes Sheers are denied an advantage by the referee with Elliot York free on goal. On 37 minutes a good strike from Horley’s Will Kendall brings out a decent save from Drew Churchwell. 39 minutes misery for Jake Horn who is sin binned for a hand protest to the grass although winning the ball but is adjudged to have fouled a Horley player. On 41 minutes a great save from Sheers Churchwell saving a volley after a short Horley corner was taken. Sheers then scramble the ball off the goal line on 42 minutes. Horley make it 2-0 with Adam Aziz who dribbles along the base line to fire into the far corner of the Sheers net. HT 2-0.
Sheers on 62 minutes almost pull a goal back with Elliot York’s shot that hits the Horley cross bar. On 65 minutes from a Sheers short corner involving Elliot York & Aiden Larkin, Mekhail McLaughlin shoots over the Horley bar from close in. Sheers in the last 10 minutes plus added on time push forward at every opportunity that almost cost them on 88 minutes with Pearch through on goal but he hits the Sheers post. Sheers finally score on 89 minutes from Elliot York’s cross that Aiden Larkin heads home. Sheers go home empty handed due to a poor first half performance and a strong performance by the home side.
