Sheerwater secured their first home league win of the season in this rearranged fixture against Eversley & California, lifting them to 5th place in the table.

The Boars started brightly, threatening early with a long ball down the right that was whipped across the face of goal, though no player could apply the finish. The Sheers responded immediately, with Elliot York winning a corner, comfortably claimed by Boars keeper Josh Selby.

It didn’t take long for the hosts to find their rhythm. A trademark through ball from Charlie Rose split the Boars defence and sent Alfie Burton racing through on goal. Burton made no mistake, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner to give Sheerwater a 1–0 lead.

In the 12th minute, Razza Ajibola launched a long pass to the right wing for Kareem Foster, who beat his marker and crossed for York, only for his header to clear the bar. Just two minutes later, controversy struck when Rose was adjudged to have fouled a Boars player near the edge of the area. Despite appeals, referee Steven Monks pointed to the spot. Henry Paxford stepped up and drove the penalty past Churchwell to level the score at 1–1.

Sheerwater nearly regained the lead minutes later when McLaughlin and York combined down the left, allowing Foster to fire narrowly over. At the other end, Paxford saw a deflected shot well saved low by Churchwell. York then almost capitalised on a Boars defensive lapse, but Selby was equal to his shot, saving with his legs.

On 24 minutes, York launched a superb 80-yard diagonal ball to Foster, but the move was halted by a solid Boars challenge. McLaughlin then won a header to set up Valter, whose quick turn and shot forced a near-post save from Selby.

The Sheers were forced into a change on 35 minutes when a centre-back limped off, replaced by Freddie Bailey. Eversley responded with pressure of their own, winning successive corners that were expertly delivered by Pantony, requiring sharp interventions from Churchwell to keep the scores level. Just before the break, York unleashed a thunderous effort that was well stopped again by Selby. The Boars pushed hard late in the half, but Sheerwater held firm.

Eversley nearly took the lead in the 52nd minute, heading just wide from a corner. At the other end, Tom Gardner’s long-range drive from 35 yards was well held by the impressive Selby.

On 62 minutes, the Sheers made a triple substitution: Okakpu replaced Valter, Larkin came on for Burton, and George Mackie replaced Foster.

The Boars continued to pose a threat, and in the 71st minute their number 9 – lively throughout – headed against the post. Just moments later, Sheers substitute Aiden Larkin executed a clever chip that beat Selby but crashed off the bar.

Eversley had another golden opportunity in the 77th minute when Ross Baker (No. 17) headed over from close range. Selby was again called into action, this time saving well from Emeeka Okakpu, and it began to look as though the Sheers might need something special to beat him.

That moment came in the 84th minute. Larkin produced a sublime pass to release Matt Bryant down the right. Bryant delivered an inch-perfect cross that Okakpu converted confidently to make it 2–1.

The Sheers sealed all three points just minutes later. Jake Horn picked out Okakpu with a teasing ball to the far post, and the striker made no mistake, heading home his second of the game and confirming a hard-fought 3–1 victory.
