In the Sheers midweek match on Tuesday night we came away with a point after the Sheers scoring a very late equaliser.
The Sheers were very lively from the start of the match with Elliot York going close on a couple of chances and Harvey Valter seized on an opportunity from a free kick drilling the ball down the right side of the Alton defensive wall that hits the post with Razza Ajibola following up that the Alton keeper saves. The Sheers take the lead on 24 minutes after the Alton keeper gets caught on the ball after a back pass that Elliot York seizes on the opportunity taking the ball to fire into the Alton net. Kareem Foster for the Sheers receives a soft yellow card on 25 minutes. Sheers should have gone 0-2 up with Kareem Foster not taking his chance. On 38 minutes Alton had their best chance of the half from a corner that No 4 Ed Dryden heads to the far post that no 9 MaCallister heads wide of the Sheers target. Sheers go in at half time with the 0-1 advantage that they deserved.
Alton came back into the game working hard in the early stages of the second half with Sheers having to defend the Alton attacks and it was no surprise when Alton grabbed an equaliser on 74 minutes through Adam MaCallister and then followed up by taking the lead on 78 minutes from Adam Poynters penalty after a foul in the area by Kareem Foster. It looked like that the Sheers were going home empty handed as the match went into added time but the Sheers drove forward in the final minutes to score a very late equaliser through George Mackie on 90 plus 8 minutes (WOW)
