Sutton Common Rovers steal the show with an 88th minute winner despite the Sheers second half dominance. The match was a scrappy affair with needless cautions shown by Referee Griffiths.
In the early exchanges Sheers defended the Rovers advances and Sheers Emeka Okakpu almost broke into the Rovers defence who cleared the threat quickly. On 12 minutes Razza Ajibole Sheers was cautioned after a free kick was denied for the Sheers. After two Rovers corners that came nothing Sheers Tom Gardner sent an excellent long ball to Alfie Burton who could only find the side netting with his shot. Sheers earn a corner after Razza’s ball to Elliot York. 35 minutes Rovers caution no 4 Lyle on a foul on Sheers Razza. 36 minutes good defending on a press by the Rovers from the Sheers trio Rose, Mackie & Gardner. 38 minutes a long throw from Sheers York finds the head of Rose whose header is saved by Rovers keeper Olajide. 42 minutes a great chance for the Sheers from Freddie Bailey’s free kick to Razza Ajibola who does not take the opportunity to score. 43 minutes a chance for the Rovers only for Courtney to fluff the chance. On 44 minutes Emeka Okakpu and York combine well down the left side for York to break free only for him to let the ball go out of play. Half time 0-0

Sheers squander a good chance on 53 minutes with Emeka Okakpu braking past the Rovers defence only to rifle his shot wide of the Rovers goal. 56 minutes after a Sheers free kick is sent high into the Rovers box that was needed to be headed away by Cook as Gardner was there to take the chance. 58 minutes Substitutions for the Sheers new signing Jack Lillie replaces Freddie Bailey & Kareem Foster replaces Alfie Burton. 59 minutes Sheers Lillie first touch is good as he finds Kareem Foster down the right side that wins a Sheers corner. The resulting corner causes much panic in the Rovers box as Rose & York try and scramble the ball home that ends with the referee giving Rovers a foul on keeper Olajide. 61 minutes Sheers substitution Harvey Valter replaces Emeka Okakpu. 72 minutes, another great chance for the Sheers with Razza Ajibloa evading the Rovers defence to have only the keeper to beat who then shoots straight at the keeper who blocks Razza’s shot for a corner and the resulting corner is fisted away by the Rovers keeper. On 88 minutes the Rovers steal the show as the Sheers fail to defend a throw that is sent to substitute Bouchez clear down the left side who then cuts in who finds the net despite the Sheers keeper Chuchwell advancing to close down the threat. Sheers battle to seek an equalizer but are denied after a long throw by York to Leeks whose header is saved by keeper Olajide.
